Bethany EM is the English Ministry of Bethany United Methodist Church in Wayne, NJ. We are a congregation consisting of college students, young adults/working professionals, and families with children. The EM has re-launched our worship service format as one of the main services at Bethany. We are a multi-generational community which is taking the next step to becoming a church which serves all people. The Senior Pastor will initially maintain preaching responsibilities, but will transition gradually to have the head EM pastor assume leadership of the ministry. We are seeking a head EM pastor who is called to serve an adult ministry who will actively minister to congregation members during the week, work in partnership with the Senior Pastor, Associate College/Young Adult Pastor, worship committee, and other lay leaders/servants to contribute to Bethany’s mission and objectives to serve Christ.

Title: English Ministry Pastor – Full-Time

Accountability:

The EM Pastor is mutually accountable to the Senior Pastor and the SPRC of Bethany Church (consisting of KM and EM members) and will work alongside the Associate College/Young Adult pastor, EM Worship Elder/EM Worship Committee. This is a locally hired position, not appointed by the NJ Conference of the UMC.

Responsibilities:

The EM Pastor shall:

– Preach during Sunday Worship (11:45 am)

– Have oversight over all EM ministries including Regional Community Groups

– Work with the part-time college/young adult pastor

– Teach/Train Leaders

– Implement Discipleship

– Provide counseling and visitations for congregation members

– Take part in creating a community through fellowship and welcoming

– Outreach/missions

– Monitor the health of the EM congregation

– Implement and carry out the vision for the ministry

– Work with the pastoral staff, the Session of the church and the EM Worship Committee

– Attend monthly Session meetings

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

– Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary

– Ordination through a recognized denomination

– Eligible to work in the U.S.

– At least a 2-year commitment

Salary, stipends, and benefits:

– Commensurate with experience

– Housing allowance, utilities (gas, cell phone, electricity, etc.)
