Special Needs Ministry Coordinator

Christ Central is seeking a Special Needs Ministry Coordinator to lead Christ Central’s growing Access Ministry.  The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator will lead the development, implementation, and management of the Access ministry.  S/he will lead and facilitate the inclusion of individuals with special needs and their families in the community of the church.  S/he will help increase awareness and advocacy for the larger special needs community within our spheres of influence as we live out the gospel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Administrative

o   Serve as liaison and coordinator between the family/church, ministry leaders and advocate for the needs

o   Scheduling, budgeting, file management, and administrative tasks

o   Review, implement and follow all church and ministry policies and procedures

·         Events Coordination

o   Planning and coordinating spiritual care and support via various events periodically to include: “Soul Care Day” (A spiritual care and counseling day for families), awareness events, coordinate respite care and coordinate meal delivery to families

o   Connecting families and the church with resources

·         Training and Development

o   Recruit, lead meetings, train, develop and oversee volunteers

o   Strategize vision and share best practices with team/church and have the ability to develop ways to overcome barriers to ensure each individual and their families can be fully immersed in the church community

o   Has the ability to develop individualized spiritual care and support to the special needs individual and create individualized profile/support materials as necessary

o   Develop training materials along with policies and procedures

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)

·         Compassion – Calling and Gifting

o   Experience in working with individuals with special needs, and their families in a gospel centered manner.

o   Knowledge of varying age levels, teaching, and learning styles of individuals.

o   Proactive and strategic planning and administration over Access programs

o   Knowledge of Christ-centered Christian education

o   Experience and/or education in working with special needs preferred

o   Completed background check, Live Scan and CPR certified (church will provide resources for applicant to complete)

·         Community – Relational Compatibility

o   Committed and compatible with the ministry of Christ Central

o   Relates well and achieves personal rapport with Christ Central families, Staff, Session and congregation as a whole

o   A sense of God’s calling to local area and Christ Central in particular

o   Full support of his/her family

·         Christ – Maturity and Fruitfulness

o   Personal godliness, joy, humility, conflict resolution and evidence of ongoing gospel renewal

o   Theological vision distinctives

§  Personal theological beliefs aligned with Christ Central’s Statement of Beliefs

§  Supports the theological vision and teaching of our church

§  Gospel values

o   Knows how to encourage and love others through the gospel

o   Understand the importance of gospel leadership

o   Adheres to Christ Central’s philosophy of ministry (for discussion with Senior Pastor)
