Pastor of Missions and Mobilization

Job Summary: The Pastor of Missions and Mobilization exists to advance the vision, mission and values of Christ Central through the missions departments (Local Mercy, Global, Short Term), church-planting initiatives (Gospel Expansion & Partnerships) and Faith & Work ministry by providing strategic planning, organizational leadership and lay leadership supervision, development and care.

Organizational Relationships: Reports to the Executive Pastor for supervision, accountability, and support. The following lay coordinator leadership positions will report to the Pastor of Missions and Mobilization:

  • Global Missions Coordinator
  • Local Mercy Coordinator
  • Short Term Missions Coordinator
  • Faith & Work Ministry Coordinator

Accountability and Supervision: The Pastor of Missions and Mobilization will work under the oversight, supervision and direction of the Executive Pastor. The Executive Pastor and/or Session will provide an annual staff review/appraisal and will update the job description (if necessary).

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee strategic planning, organizational unity and resource management for Christ Central’s missions departments’ and Faith & Work ministry’s objectives, priorities and initiatives
    • Inform, advise and seek counseling from the Session, pastoral staff and administrative team regarding strategical, tactical and communications decisions related to missions, church-planting and Faith & Work ministry
    • Oversee the lay leadership team structure for each of the missions departments and Faith & Work ministry
    • Manage the CCPC Master Calendar to secure all needed resources (schedule, facility)
  2. Supervise all of the missions departments and Faith & Work ministry lay coordinators in strategic planning, management, evaluation & assessment and execution of their respective missions departments, ensuring alignment with the church’s vision and mission.
    • Bi-monthly meetings with lay coordinators for supervision, support and care
    • Attend and participate in bi-monthly missions leadership/planning meetings (Local Mercy, Global, Short-Term)
    • Attend and participate in Faith & Work ministry’s leadership/planning meetings and sponsored events
  3. Support each missions departments’ and Faith & Work ministry’s operational readiness and effectiveness in the following categories: administration, communication, leadership recruitment/development, budget/finance, fundraising (local mercy outreach projects, short- term missions), scheduling, facilities management and church-wide missions initiatives
    • Establish and evaluate each missions departments’ and Faith & Work ministry’s policies, protocols, practices and systems to ensure long-term health, growth, effectiveness and accountability
  4. Lead and oversee annual Missions Month (February) planning and execution
    • Secure and coordinate all Missions Month Sunday guest speakers
    • Coordinate guest speaker weekend logistics: sermon/message planning & communication, travel, housing, meals, transportation, Sunday hosting
    • Coordinate Missions Month special meetings/seminars, luncheons, missions department leadership meetings with guest speakers
  5. Provide pastoral support, guidance and oversight in annual and seasonal local mercy outreach events: e.g., Holiday Basket, Backpack Drive, London Towne Elementary
  6. Oversee, resource, and support all CCPC-sponsored short-term missions trips
    • Serve on the Short-Term Missions committee (meeting bi-monthly)
    • Provide leadership, guidance and support for the entire short-term missions process: trip research & approval, interest meetings, team leadership & member applications, team training, fundraising, commissioning and debrief
  7. Train and mobilize Christ Central Centreville’s congregation for evangelism, mission, justice and mercy ministry
    • Preaching and teaching on each of these aspects of missions and mobilization
    • Strategically educate, connect and mobilize the congregation to participate in presbytery-wide and denominational-wide missions & mercy efforts
  8. Cultivate Gospel-partnerships with other missions & mercy ministries by serving as our church’s point of contact
  9. Lead presbytery-wide efforts to advance the Gospel, in word and deed, within the bounds of the Korean Capital Presbytery
  10. Participate in all CCPC staff meetings, presbytery meetings (twice a year) and pastoral retreats/conferences (e.g., Korean-American Leadership Initiative, General Assembly):
    • Participate fully in weekly tactical meetings, monthly strategy meetings, staff development gatherings, staff planning retreats and other ministry gatherings. In addition, participate in seasonal church-wide events and holiday services

Qualifications:

  1. Committed to Christ Central Presbyterian Church’s vision, mission and values
  2. Committed to fully engaging in the Christ Central’s staff leadership team culture and church’s community life
  3. Completed theological education at a Reformed seminary
  4. Currently a member of the presbytery in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) or previously served in a PCA church preferred
  5. Preferred 5-10 years of leadership experience (within a local church, missions agency or para-church ministry) with a proven track record of leadership development, strategic planning, organizational oversight and project management
  6. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the entire church leadership (pastoral & ministry staff, elders/session, deacons, ministry team lay leaders)
  7. Ability to shepherd, support, train/develop and supervise the lay ministry volunteers
  8. Strong organizational and administrative skills
  9. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  10. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  11. High level of professionalism, discernment and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
  12. Ability to clear all necessary background checks

Salary:

  • Commensurate with experience
