Grace Valley Church (GVC) is looking for a person who has a firm personal conviction in God’s call to make Christ-centered disciples among the next generations within the context of the Children’s Ministry.
The Education Pastor/Director will cast GVC’s existing vision into the Children’s Ministry and will provide leadership, strategy, and oversight for the Children’s Ministry. The Education Pastor/Director will prioritize relationships with other church staff members as well as with their own ministry team leaders and servants.
GVC is a Korean church in Saratoga, CA that was established in October 2018.
We are made up of about 90 members and are currently preparing to join the PCA denomination.
Our church’s vision is to enjoy and share the new life of Christ for all generations and nations here in Silicon Valley through the development and growth of a Christ-centered, disciple-making gospel ministry.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Develop and implement a strategy to accomplish the vision of GVC within the Children’s Ministry and work with parents to lead their children into a faithful understanding of God and His word as disciples who disciple others.
Recruiting, training, and supporting lay servants/teachers on an ongoing basis, e.g., teaching skills, safety policies, and procedures.
Create an empowering culture through ministry transparency and trust.
Oversee the selection, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum plan from toddler to Youth.
Contact visiting families (w/ children) in a hospitable and timely manner.
Sunday Children’s Worship (including sermons) and Sunday class.
Midweek Youth Bible study.
Participate in weekly Ministry Staff meetings, prayer, and other staff events
Work together with Parents/Guardians to disciple their children
Support the biblical mandate that parents/guardians are responsible for the discipling of their children (provide resources to train parents).
Consistent communication with parents/guardians, using church resources (Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and personal means of communication (in-person, cell phone, email, texting, conference calls).
Work with church PTA.
Prepare and submit an annual plan and ministry budget for approval.
Oversee budget and expenditures for the Children’s Ministry.
Work together with the existing Adult IT team and our church management software for management of families with children.
Manage background checks for lay servants as well as safety and security systems for children.
Ensure a clean and healthy environment for the children.
Review and follow all church and ministry policies and procedures, e.g., child to adult ratios, background checks, emergency plans, etc.
Vacation Bible School.
Support a lay-led Christmas presentation.
Support any special events for children associated with other church-wide events.
A personal, vibrant relationship with YHWH and displays Biblical traits of leadership and maturity (listed in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, Galatians 5:23).
Reformed, Grace-driven, Christ-centered theological and hermeneutical convictions in line with the PCA and GVC
Graduate or current student of an accredited seminary (M.Div or an MA in Biblical and Theological Studies)
Proven experience in leadership and development of a vibrant children’s ministry
Experienced in recruiting, motivating, and equipping people and administering ministries.
Able to manage both conflicts with others and conflicts between others in a timely and biblical manner.
Teachable; readily receives biblical correction, admits fault, and adapts accordingly
