DESCRIPTION:

Korean Hanbit Presbyterian Church of Houston, TX, a 250+ member Korean-speaking congregation established over 30 years ago under KPCA, is seeking a full-time pastor with the calling to lead and the vision to grow the English Ministry (officially named “Living Water Ministry” or “LWM”).  LWM has been in existence for 12 years and currently consists of a multi-ethnic group of 40 members consisting of college students, young professionals, and married couples with families

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as EM pastor to LWM members by preaching, teaching, and embodying the Gospel and discipling the members towards a growing love and knowledge of Jesus Christ

Essential work includes but is not limited to the following:

1.      Set the vision and lead the ministry towards that vision

2.      Identify, train, and empower members to help serve and lead the church

• Teach and disciple members to live out the Gospel
• Train small group leaders so that they may train others

3.      Lead Sunday worship and various services throughout the year

4.      Lead weekly bible studies and fellowship meetings

5.      Provide spiritual leadership and counseling

6.      Perform visitations

7.      Lead in planning, executing, and evaluating ministry events/programs throughout the year, such as:

• Retreats
• College outreach
• Community outreach programs
• Short-term missions

8.      Oversee and coordinate the development of annual budget that reflects the ministry goals

9.      Work and collaborate with LWM leadership and Hanbit KM staff towards the common goal of serving the church, including participating in staff meetings with KM pastors

10.  Lead regular meetings with LWM leadership

11.  Oversee and coordinate social media outreach (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, website, etc.)

12.  Hold regular office hours

 

QUALIFICATIONS (preferred):

1.      Ordained (KPCA preferred but not required) or Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary

2.      Minimum of 5 years of experience in English Ministry

3.      Strong leadership skills that include great organizational skills

4.      Experience in discipleship through relationships

5.      Fluent in both spoken and written English.  Fluency in spoken Korean is preferred.
