Part Time Youth Pastor

Position: Part Time Youth Pastor
Hours Worked: Part-time 15 hours per week
Salary Range: ($25/hour – $30/hour; depending on experience)

Position Summary:
The Part Time Youth Pastor will work alongside the Youth Pastor, other staff members, and youth volunteers to run key aspects of Chosen Generation (CG), Joy Christian Fellowship’s youth ministry for grades 6-12. This includes our Sunday worship service, Friday night program, youth staff meetings, and special events. The Part Time Youth Pastor would be joining a team ministry that works collaboratively to raise disciples. He/she will report to the senior pastor, and will have an opportunity to receive his mentorship.

Church Description:
Joy Christian Fellowship (JCF) is a predominantly Korean/Asian-American, nondenominational, multisite church with campuses in northern New Jersey and New York City. Joy Englewood has about 250 adults and 175 children consisting of approximately 95 youth students.

Job Description:

Sundays

  • Prepare, lead, and preach twice on a Sunday on a rotating schedule
  • Prepare and distribute Sunday small group materials
  • Pray together with all youth staff before Sunday worship begins
  • Assist with the setup, clean up, and closing of our youth worship and small group spaces
  • Assist in A/V setup, sound check, and troubleshoot as needed

Friday Night Youth Meetings

  • Prepare and lead Friday night meetings on a rotating schedule
  • Teach either middle school or high school students on Fridays
  • Prepare fellowship activities on a rotating schedule
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of Friday night meetings and events
  • Coordinate adult and youth volunteers

General Office Administration and Ministry Support

  • Assist in planning and organizing youth events
  • Lead one student ministry team: fellowship, social media, praise team, etc.
  • Coordinate administrative tasks to support the ministry
  • Meet with the youth pastor and Joy pastoral staff regularly
  • Assist in processing volunteer applications and keeping up to date background checks for volunteers and staff
  • Oversee sign up, collection, and management of forms, required documents, and payments for all events through the church management software

Communication

  • Manage and execute communication plan and calendar
  • Create promotional materials for events and a monthly ministry calendar

  • Gospel-oriented heart to serve God, the church, and families at Joy
  • Commitment to the theology and traditions of the Reformed faith
  • Align with the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; being above reproach, sober-minded, self-controlled, hospitable, able to teach, gentle.
  • Act as a positive Christian role model who loves God and His people
  • Team player with the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organizational environment
  • Available to work a nontraditional schedule which includes evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain high standards of honesty and integrity
  • Passion for youth ministry and to raise life long disciples
  • Belief in the inerrancy and infallibility of the Holy Scriptures

Skills/Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum two year undergraduate degree
  • Minimum two year experience (volunteer or paid) participating in childrens, youth, or college ministry
  • Currently enrolled in or completed seminary education (m.Div preferred)

Preferred:

  • Fluent in developing, executing, and maintaining social media presence
  • Musical and vocal ability to train or lead our youth praise team
  • Knowledgeable in video and audio tech
  • Proficiency with GSuite and MSOffice
