We are seeking a PART-TIME Worship Director for the Joy Manhattan congregation. This person would play the primary role of facilitating times of musical worship at Joy Manhattan. Times of worship include Sunday services as well as various other services such as retreats, Good Friday service, baptism services, etc. Additionally, the Worship Director would be responsible for recruiting, training, and fostering the spiritual growth and camaraderie for members of the worship ministry.
Our congregation is mostly in our 20’s and 30’s, young professionals. We want someone who is open to the ministry of the Holy Spirit (e.g praying for divine healing, etc.). This is a conservative evangelical church. Our worship style is mostly contemporary worship music. It would be preferable if the worship director leads with a guitar or piano.
The job is normally based in midtown Manhattan, but is currently remote as church services are being held virtually into the foreseeable future. The Worship Director will be expected to lead worship remotely and/or pre-record worship sets until further notice (video recording equipment can be provided).
The candidate must be one whose aim is to be beyond reproach in every area of his/her public and personal life.
The candidate must be a spiritual leader whose doctrine is aligned with Joy and is capable of mentoring a team to grow deeper in their own spiritual lives and personal worship.
The candidate must hold to a high level of musical excellence and be able to lead others in carrying out that same level of excellence.
The candidate must show intentionality in songs and worship repertoire that will faithfully lead the church in true biblical worship of God.
The candidate must be able to handle administration and logistics of scheduling band rotations, planning out the ministry calendar, and coordinating ministry events.
The candidate must exemplify good communication skills with leadership and members of the worship ministry.
The candidate must be one to model servanthood in aspects of the worship ministry that require physical labor; eg. setting up, breaking down, and transporting equipment.
Master of Divinity or other theological training
Understanding of audio and visual equipment and software
3-5 years of previous ministry experience serving in a city context
$18/hr – $24/hr. 13 hours/week with increased hours during specific events.
Salary commensurate with ministry experience and relevant skills.
Please submit one or more video links of you leading a worship set (ideally live) but OK even if it’s just you. Also, please submit a cover letter (including why you want to work in this role), resume, & two references (one professional reference and one from a pastor who knows you well who we can contact) to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Due to the volume of anticipated responses, there will only be a reply to certain candidates. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you.
