We are seeking a FULL-TIME or PART-TIME Administrative Assistant / Ministry Assistant for the Joy Manhattan congregation. This person would play a key role in advancing our vision by partnering with church leadership and members to direct our resources efficiently and effectively in carrying out the initiatives of the church. This person will work closely with the Pastor, church staff, and church leadership in assisting with weekly ministerial and logistical needs. A person interested in active ministry is preferred.

The job is based in midtown Manhattan. Work is done at the church office, some remotely and on-site at our Sunday service venue. At times at other locations (e.g. retreats) as directed for errands and projects.

Required Qualifications

The candidate must be highly organized, reliable, self-motivated, diligent, prompt, detail oriented, flexible, resilient, personable and professional in their appearance, and professional in how they communicate in writing, over the phone and in person.
The candidate must have proficient computer skills including G Suite, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.). Must be be willing to learn other software as needed.
The candidate must be able to keep matters confidential.
The candidate must be good at taking instructions and carrying them out with excellence.
The candidate must enjoy doing admin tasks and promptly, serving in a support role, being kind and courteous, enjoy helping people and doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves.
The candidate will also help with setup and cleanup of church services and meetings and taking care of the church office including cleaning, handling shipments, and greeting people. Open but prefer someone who is able to lift 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledgeable in Adobe Suite including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
College degree or seminary studies but open to current college students.
Past ministry experience or someone who wants to do active ministry (or even pursue full-time ministry one day) is highly desirable but not necessary. Can discuss depending on interest.


Full-time:  $40K – $47K + partial healthcare coverage.  40+ hours/week
Full-time hours: Mondays off. Work Tuesday-Sunday with typically a half day on Saturdays.

Part-time: $18/hr – $22/hr.  About 20-30+ hours/week with increased hours during specific events.

Salary commensurate with administrative and ministry experience and relevant skills.
