Seeking Full-Time Associate Pastor or Part-Time Assistant Pastor

Who are we? 

Kansas Mission Church (KMC) is a theologically conservative, evangelical non-denominational church in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. We are a Korean-American English-language ministry (EM) which is separately governed, with our own operating budget, ministering alongside the Korean-language ministry (KM).

We are a multigenerational congregation blessed with many long time members, as well as new and growing families all eager to serve and do life with one another. We actively support mission work both locally and internationally.

We are praying to be used of God to plant churches & new works of Gospel ministry both locally and abroad.

Open Positions

We are expanding our pastoral staff with either a full-time Associate Pastor or part-time Assistant Pastor. Qualified candidates may apply for one or both positions (responsibilities outlined separately below).

Full-Time Associate Responsibilities:

The associate pastor will report to the English Ministry (EM) senior pastor and work with/alongside the senior pastor especially as relates to administrative duties. He will have opportunities for Sunday preaching as well as other opportunities to teach. He will be expected to hold office hours onsite during weekdays, attend staff meetings, and be present at church events, functions, and special services.

The associate pastor will provide oversight for the Student Ministries which includes the Nursery, Children’s Ministry, and Youth Ministry. He will oversee a team of teachers and volunteers, and work with pastors and parents to shepherd the students/children of KMC. In addition to providing pastoral guidance and oversight of the SM, he will be directly shepherding and pastoring the youth students (6th-12th grade). He will preach, teach the bible, provide pastoral care throughout the week, attend meetings as necessary, and work in the training of lay leadership and development of the ministry.

Part-Time Assistant Pastor for Student Ministries Responsibilities:

The assistant pastor will help our senior pastor provide oversight for the Student Ministries which includes the Nursery, Children’s Ministry, and Youth Ministry. He will oversee a team of teachers and volunteers, and work with staff and parents to shepherd the students/children of KMC. In addition to providing pastoral guidance and oversight of the SM, he will be directly shepherding and pastoring the youth students (6th-12th grade). He will preach, teach the bible, provide pastoral care throughout the week, attend meetings as necessary, and allot time to the training of lay leadership and development of the ministry.

As the nature of an assistant is likely to gain experience in pastoral ministry, the senior pastor will especially work in close conjunction with the assistant pastor in a Paul/Timothy model of apprenticeship for his development and growth. The assistant pastor will not be “left alone to figure it out” but rather, depending on the need, will be mentored by the senior pastor in fulfilling the requirements and responsibilities of this ministry.

Qualifications:

• A life consistent with the Biblical qualifications of a shepherding elder found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5
• Above reproach, seeking personal holiness
• Manages his own household (good husband and father)
• Able to teach and defend sound doctrine
  Self-controlled, respectable, hospitable
• Assent to Our Vision and Beliefs – Kansas Mission Church
• Formal theological education required (Bible college or seminary current enrollment or Degree)
  Ordination (or pursuant) in a conservative evangelical denomination
• Previous ministry experience preferred
