BACKGROUND OF KCPCH

Korean Central Presbyterian Church of Houston  (휴스턴 한인중앙장로교회) is prayerfully seeking a youth pastor to shepherd the youth group (Junior/Senior High School).  We are a PCUSA church located in West Houston, Texas, about 30 minutes outside of downtown Houston.  KCPCH was founded in 1979, led and served faithfully by Senior Pastor Reverend Jaeho Yee (이재호 담임 목사) for the past 34 years with a vision to build God’s Kingdom as one, united church of many generations.  ARCHE is the inter-generational English congregation of KCPCH (composed of junior/senior high school, college, and adults) who exist to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ as a unified church, to transform the city and the world.  For more information please check out our websites:  www.kcpch.org (Korean Congregation) & www.archehouston.com (English Congregation).

Youth Pastor Responsibilities:

The youth pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor along with the rest of the pastoral staff and work directly with Arche Lead Pastor and pastoral interns.  Main responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Disciple and shepherd youth students to foster a deep and personal relationship with Christ via a multiplicity of methods:

  • Growing a posture and lifestyle of prayer
  • Building relationship with parents
  • Recruiting, training, and supporting teachers/leaders
  • Cultivating and mentoring student servant leaders to promote peer-to-peer discipleship within the church
  • Fostering an evangelistic heart for all youth to reach other in personal communities
  • Coordinating special events (including but not limited to: retreats, community outreach, celebratory events, fellowship events) to facilitate spiritual growth and community
  • Overseeing regular small group gatherings to deepen both personal relationship with God and interpersonal relationships that encourage inclusivity and healing
  • Deepening a heart of missions alongside the rest of Arche to facilitate inter-generational missional outreach both into Houston and elsewhere
  • Providing pastoral care to facilitate deep healing as led by the Holy Spirit

Work alongside other KCPCH pastoral staff to continually integrate Arche within KCPCH by:

  • Participating in KCPCH staff meetings, visitations, and gatherings as led and facilitated by Senior Pastor
  • Being a team player to grow ARCHE as a whole
  • Being flexible and receptive to changes in roles and responsibilities
  • Collaborating with other educational pastoral staff to promote the unity of educational ministries of KCPCH
  • Preaching/overseeing Sunday Worship alongside Arche Lead Pastor
  • Leading and shepherding pastoral interns alongside Arche Lead Pastor

Qualifications:

  • A Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary
  • Minimum of 1 year experience ( ≥2 years preferred) in ministry (Youth ministry preferred)
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in Korean, a plus, but not required.

Compensation:  Commensurate with experience and need
