Korean-American Ministry Resources

Riverside Community Church (RCC) is a non-denominational, independent, English speaking Church located near New York City and draws from people of various backgrounds including, financial, healthcare, business, education, and others. We are comprised of different ethnic and racial groups but the largest contingent is English-speaking Korean-Americans. The church is currently enjoying growth in every areas of ministry with 40 plus youths from 7th to 12th graders. Because we own our facilities with 20,000 square feet as well as full access to the school field for all kinds of outdoor activities, we can provide robust set of ministries. Additionally, we are currently investing significant funds to upgrade church facilities and programs. Our lead pastor is passionate about mentoring and he is willing to mentor staff and is committed to their personal, spiritual, and professional development. We also have committed teachers and parents who will fully support the new Youth Pastor to provide excellent ministry. Currently, we have two services (9:30am and 11am).

Youth Pastor’s Job Description (Full-time)


  • Master of Divinity degree preferred or/ and willing to pursue M. Div. with the purpose of full-time ordained ministry (Ordination track that allows to serve in a non-denominational church is a must)
  • Strong devotional life and growing in an intimate relationship with Jesus
  • Called to serve full-time in youth ministry as their primary calling for the long haul (6-10 years)
  • Minimum of 3 years in youth ministry and at least 1 year in full-time pastoral ministry
  • Belief in Reformed theology with knowledge of the basics of faith as well as the heart and capacity to study and teach theological doctrines. Have an openness to the full operations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • In agreement with our Statement of Faith, Vision, Mission, and Core Values of Riverside Community Church (see website for details)
  • Proven preaching and teaching gifts
  • Passionate about discipleship/equipping youths to become ministers
  • Comfortable relating and adapting to youths, college, post-college, young families, parents, and people from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds as youth ministry requires working with volunteer teachers and parents
  • Strong teaming skills in order to work well with teachers, volunteers, staff, and parents
  • Passion for evangelism, discipleship, and mission of the lost/unchurched
  • Organizational leadership (e.g. knows the importance of systems, structures, and policies)
  • Teachable/Humble & Good leader/follower
  • Have proven fruitful ministry with youths and young adults and parents
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and to work independently to complete tasks
  • Creative thinker
  • Self-starter,  motivated and proactive
  • Strategist (visionary)

Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Preach every week
  • Shepherding through prayers, visitations, and counseling
  • Lead and equip teachers and volunteers to shepherd and disciple students
  • Develop youth small groups and lead a Singles/Mixed (singles and couples without kids) House Church (i.e. small groups) with a goal to raise up more leaders through mentoring, delegating, and accountability
  • Provide opportunities that will effectively build biblical community, disciple students in Christ, and involve students in both local and global outreach
  • Plan, prepare, train, and lead short term mission trips, special events, outreaches with the help of a Deacon who is assigned to support our youth group
  • Discover, develop, and deploy all levels of volunteer leadership within the ministry, including adult and student leadership
  • Spend time with students and young adults, visiting them at their sports or school related events (e.g. graduation, plays, etc) and work lunch hours for the purpose of building relationships and also encouraging them to be witnesses at their school and workplaces
  • Implement creative relevant teaching methods to reach & transform lives
  • Engage in an existing network of NJ youth pastors and NJ English Ministry pastors once a month to fellowship, learn, and build unity for the Kingdom of God
  • Oversee and direct ministry to parents to include regular communication (e.g. weekly email news) and family counseling regarding their children
  • Lead the Youth and Young Adults (singles, and couples without kids) in unity with the overall direction of Riverside Community Church’s ministries and direction
  • Assist Lead Pastor with any admin-related work or ministry tasks
