Peninsula Bible Church
Peninsula Bible Church is a non-denominational church with 75 years of history located in the heart of Silicon Valley. We are a multi-generational, diverse community of people with a deep love for the Bible and a desire to help people find and follow Jesus. PBC is currently accepting applications for a Young Adults Pastor. This is a full-time exempt position.
Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Young Adults Pastor is to shepherd the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF), our weekly gathering of young adults. The Young Adults Pastor will also oversee the college ministry and take on other pastoral responsibilities throughout the church.
Our area faces significant cultural challenges of a busy and transient lifestyle, secular mentality, and achievement oriented culture. But there are also great opportunities: many young adults move to this area from all over the world to work in the tech industry; local companies affect technology and culture around the world; and people are hungry for community and spirituality. We are looking for a pastor to join our team by ministering to young adults but with a heart for the church as a whole and the community at large.
Responsibilities
- Shepherd the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) at PBC through:
- Leading and teaching an ongoing, weekly gathering where young adults can grow in community, learn from the Scriptures, and follow Jesus together
- Address the spiritual needs of young adults who are in the early stages of faith, mature in faith, and everything in between
- Help young adults who are new to PBC connect at YAF or into other communities
- Discipling, mentoring and training young adults and ministry leaders
- Fostering spiritually-rich community among young adults
- Oversee the planning of community-building and spiritually nourishing events and retreats
- Organize small groups for young adults
- Mobilize young adults to serve within PBC or outside of the church
- Outreach with young adults in Silicon Valley
- Partnering with other pastors to integrate and connect young adults into other small groups, ministries, and the body at large, with an emphasis on those who “age-out” of YAF
- Leading and teaching an ongoing, weekly gathering where young adults can grow in community, learn from the Scriptures, and follow Jesus together
- Oversee college ministry efforts at PBC
- During summer months, oversee 1-2 college Summer Leadership Interns to
- Connect college students who are in the area for the summer with an emphasis of bringing together college students who have previously attended PBC
- Maintain an ongoing, weekly gathering where college students can grow in community, learn from the Scriptures, and follow Jesus together
- Oversee the planning of community-building and spiritually nourishing events
- During the school year, provide opportunities for college students to connect with PBC through small groups, mentorship relationships, or other ministry settings
- During summer months, oversee 1-2 college Summer Leadership Interns to
- Participate as a pastor of PBC through:
- Collaboration with the pastoral staff on leading wider church ministry
- Teaching responsibilities throughout the church
- Providing pastoral counseling
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and an authentic relationship with Him
- Heart for young adults
- Strong ability to teach the Bible expositionally
- Ability to train and encourage outreach and evangelism
- Desire to raise up leaders through discipleship and mentorship
- Ability to excel in a collaborative leadership environment
- Confidence to work independently as well as take initiative in ambiguous situations
- Seminary degree preferred
Rate of Pay and Hours
Hours: Full Time Exempt
Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000; commensurate with experience.
